How to Install HID's on a Pontiac G6

Installing HIDs on G6Installed some DDM Tuning HID's into the G6 during the holidays, and while I wasn't busy having a beer I took some pics and made a write up. Pretty easy job, just takes some patience and time!

I have went through many brands of HID's and these were by far the best. DDM tuning fire up in any weather and have no issues with our -40C winters in Alberta, Canada. This is what the kit looks like (only one ballast shown here):

Start by opening the hood to get at the headlights. There is an array of clips and bolts you will have to take off along the top edge. It doesn't take too long.

Remove the following hardware. As I recall - I used a 10mm ratchet here. Also be careful with the plastic clips. You will need to re-use them when you assemble the headlights back together. Best way to get these off is using a flat head screwdriver and prying them up slowly.

Here is a diagram of how you will need to hook up things in the car. I hooked up to the passenger side harness of the car when I did this job. It helps a lot if you remove the rest of the clips on the bumper so it's more flexible to get the headlight housings out. Def. Cars Harness - the factory plug in for the headlight to get its power.

The back of the light housing looks like this when its's done getting hooked up. Taking out the light housings is tricky, but be careful not to break the plastic. You sort of have to force them out towards yourself and to the right (or to the left if you are doing the driver side).

These are the two points I hooked up to. The shock tower is where I mounted the negative and the fusebox connection is where I mounted my positive cable.

Tucking away cables in here is a good idea, since a nice big cover hides it all. (Also nice to keep all of the electronics in one place). After this just re-assemble everything in reverse order and you are good to go.

All done! Looks great, and super functional. I was very surprised that I didn't need to re-align the headlights down, the cut-off is like made for HID's on this car. =)
